Intern Spotlight: Aman Tahiliani

News | December 8th, 2023

At Rimidi, interns get hands-on experience and the chance to make a real impact on our product, marketing, and operations.

A great example is engineering intern, Aman Tahiliani, an international student from India currently getting his Master's degree in Computer Science at Georgia Tech. Aman was first introduced to Rimidi as a teaching assitant for an Intro to Health Informatics class when Rimidi CEO, Dr. Lucie Ide, gave a guest lecture.

As we (tearfully) send Aman off to his next adventure, we wanted to find out what made his experience at Rimidi stand out. Here's more about Aman and his intern experience:

What's a fun fact about yourself?
I own 2 tablets, 3 laptops, 4 keyboards and 7 computer mice and continue to collect more and more technology related items. Basically, I spend way too muchmoney on tech I DO NOT need.

What did you like most about interning at Rimidi?
Honestly, the people here. Everyone here is so cool and fun to work and even hangout with. There is great inter-team communication and people seem to really love what they do and take pride in it.

Every quarter, we have the all hands meetings where everyone is in town and comes into office so you get to meet the people behind the slack messages and gitcommits. There are really cool events for the entire company and the engineering team goes out to do something fun too. This last time we went for go-karting and laser tag which is so much fun.

As for work, my favorite thing is that I got a chance and freedom to actually give my inputs in the project that I was doing and was treated so respectfully by Romeo, the director of engineering. Everyone loved educating when asked and weekly engineering sessions that we had were so useful to me.

Do you think your internship at Rimidi has prepared you for future roles/career? If yes, how so?
I honestly think that it gave me a ton. Being a smaller team, everything we do as part of our sprints makes it into production quickly and starts having an effect on the product and company in a real way. This means that I was able to do work that really mattered in the end. Yes, there are times when there is a lot of work, but honestly, those are the ones I love the most because the sense of accomplishment at the end is tremendous.

Being an intern, a lot of companies seem to hand out menial work with no real consequence to you, but not here. I was treated the same as all the other engineers, but also anytime I had any questions, Romeo and the other engineers were always happy to answer them.

What would you advise to future interns?
Enjoy your time here. Make use of all the resources you get, especially the snacks! Try to learn a lot about how the company operates, not just the workings of your own team but try to speak with everyone (I promise, they don't bite). It is a very lucky opportunity to intern here.

Anything else you'd like to add?
Thank you so much to everyone who has been so good to me. I was extremely nervous while joining in but I have grown to love this company a lot. It is my best internship experience yet.

It is safe to say the gratitude is mutual, Aman!
